Bon voyage, Meredith! Her ode to a recycling rollcart

MEREDITH SORENSEN / Friday, August 22, 2008 04:05 PM

Meredith Sorensen, our diligent blogger of Talkin' Trash, received a fellowship to study waste management in far flung locations around the world. Track of her trashy adventures around Europe and Central America through her own blogspot home, Trash or Treasure. We'll miss your trash talk, Meredith! For her departure, Meredith composed an ode to her recycling rollcart.

"Oh You Sexy Rollcart"

It's 6 a.m., and I awake with a start;
Did I do everything I need to do with my rollcart? More...

Waste Allocation Load Lifter: Bring on the Business Cards!

MEREDITH SORENSEN / Tuesday, July 22, 2008 03:13 PM

I have been thinking about what I might put on my future business cards: Garbologist, Recycling Ninja, and Trash Lady have come to mind.  Now I hear there is a cute Pixar robot on the scene, known as WALL-E, which stands for "Waste Allocation Load Lifter -- Earth Class".  I think I have my new title. More...

Cogs and Creativity: Resource Revival Turns Bike Parts into Bike Arts.

MEREDITH SORENSEN / Wednesday, May 14, 2008 05:56 PM

I moved to Portland for two reasons: 1) so I could commute by bike, and 2) so I could work with trash and recycling.  Imagine my joy last weekend when I met Graham Bergh, the founder and president of Resource Revival, Inc. -- a company that makes bottle openers, pictures frames, clocks, wine racks and signs out of old bike parts (mostly chains and cogs).  They give new meaning to re-cycling, and local Twin Cities bike shops are participating. More...

The Story of Stuff

MEREDITH SORENSEN / Wednesday, February 6, 2008 06:57 PM

When my friend forwarded me a link to the “Story of Stuff" website, I thought, "This is pretty cool." When my mom forwarded me the link, I thought, "Wow. I guess everyone on the planet knows about this movie...and thinks it's cool." My blogging world (if such a world exists) must know about this resource. More...
