I really like this bakery. I usually stop every time I pass it for some kind of snack. I have liked everything in their pastry window except the Chocolate Devil's Food cupcake. If you want a cupcake go to Trophy or Cupcake Royale (also sold at Metro Market). Their cakes are okay. They are not as moist as I would like them to be but have good flavor. I made a last minute, day of, cake order for a friend's bridal shower and it was beautiful. I think it was lemon & some type of berry. It was okay but not great. Maybe Bakery Nouveau is better for cakes.
Side note, I think Macrina is better than Dahlia Bakery. Most of Dahlia's pastries/pies are good but definitely not worth the price.

Avoid custom orders. I bought a cake here for a party with only 4 days notice, therefore I did not do the "taste testing" ahead of time. But- I did specifically say no fruit filling and absolutely nothing citrusy. The cake I got was horrible and lemon strawberry to boot.
So- try them out before you make any big decisions.
