Next Adventure is great at doing what it does best: Low prices! They know how to spot a deal and sell quality stuff for a reasonable price. However, this is a store to be really careful in. You can't return that whimsical purchase, so be sure about what you're buying. A lot of what they sell is like the remaindered books at Powell's...stuff that people either ordered way too many of or just wasn't any good to begin with. Sometimes there's a reason Next Adventure can buy 15 framepacks for cheap and sell them for cheap -- because they were never any good! But other times, they get stuff that rocks and they are selling for cheap. You just have to know your merch and watch out for the stuff they got because nobody else could sell it.

Check out the huge trees in here! Can you imagine when Oregon was riddled with these giants? Very interesting place to learn about how the timber industry played such a big role in Oregon history.

Flexcar rocks! I love how far they've expanded already. It sounded like a far fetched dream once, but the idea has been absolutely visionary and executed with aplomb. Cool how they have every size vehicle under the sun for you too, depending on what you need.

I've always had excellent service from River City. Very trustworthy and helpful bike shop...and a cool indoor riding rink for test drives upstairs. I think it's great that their ad campaign aims to inspire everyone to bike commute, even if it's just one day a week (to start with).

The Redwing Cafe rocks! Great coffee first and foremost. Terrific atmosphere...music and artwork that rock. They bake their own incredibly good pastries, make thier own fantastic soups, and generally know how to get the job done. A delicous stop for coffee, lunch or whatever suits ya. Even a beer!

Outstanding pizza, especially by the slice! I love coming here for lunch hour. The slices are hot, the ingredients local and yummy, and even the crowd of students, professors and business people makes for fun times. Free New York Times available for reading too...what more could you want!
