How did REI get in here? It seems like any time I go in there now, I see more and more products made in China or Taiwan. It makes me suspect they're using sweatshop labor oversees. Here in the US, their labor policies are decent.

In case you don't know, REI is a comprehensive camping/hiking/outdoors store. No rifles and fishing rods; it doesn't cater to those types. But they have everything in the way of sleeping bags, packs, camp stoves, climbing equipment, pickax/crampons, water filters, guidebooks, that kind of stuff. I love this store, it is so fun to wander around. However it is very expensive - sometimes this is excusable, for the type of things you can't really get elsewhere. Some stuff they just overcharge. This is the biggest camp store in downtown portland, I'm pretty sure.

REI has the perfect combo of sporting goods, equipment, outdoor/sports clothing and casual clothes that I've ever seen. Salespeople are helpful, the store is beautiful (and green) and there's a climbing wall if you get bored. They have great sales from time-to-time, but my favorite feature is that I can buy from REI.com and have it delivered to the store for free.
