Last month we shared ideas for making your Halloween festivities a little greener. Now that Halloween has passed, the holiday season is in full swing. For some of us this creates excitement, for others anxiety. Here is the first of a few of our favorite ways to feel good about the holiday season while lowering stress and guilt.

When unpacking those boxes of decorations you may come across a wad of twinkle lights that you can’t untangle or that are no longer working. This year you don’t have to throw them in the trash (or put them back in the box to deal with “next year”). The Recycling Association of Minnesota, in partnership with WCCO TV, Xcel Energy and Snyders Drug Stores, is launching "Recycle Your Holidays™," a first-of-its-kind effort. Minnesotans can drop off their old, broken holiday lights at any participating Snyders Drug Stores or the WCCO TV Plaza during the holiday season. Your tangled mess will be completely recycled, even the little bulbs. Free recycling bins are also available if you’d like to share this opportunity with your business, school, church, or organization.

For more information about this program, visit the Recycling Association of Minnesota or WCCO TV.
