Ten Thousand Villages Book Club: The World Without Us
Join the May Ten Thousand Villages book club discussion of Alan Weisman's The World Without Us.  This "eco-thriller" imagines a future world without the human species.  Weisman paints a vivid picture of how Earth will look as centuries of man-made constructions slowly deteriorate.  Join other Village readers to discuss the novel and envision ways we can begin to change our current regard (or lack of) for the environment.

Dowling Community Garden Plant Sale
There will be many plant sales this spring, but one that is sure to delight is the Dowling Community Garden Plant Sale. The Dowling Community Garden was founded as a WWII Victory Garden in 1943 and is currently tended by many experienced growers and gardeners.  Their sale will have an awesome selection of vegetables (hybrids and heirlooms available), herbs and old-fashioned flowers.  And since Victory Gardens are so back in this spring, it will be the best place to start envisioning your plot!

Slow Food Minnesota Presents: Wild About You, a Foraging Dinner

Celebrate spring with a day on Ralph Lentz Farm and a foraged dinner.  After walking around the farm, where you can see a rehabilitated trout stream, native plants, bluffs, cattle at pasture and a 300-year-old savanna, enjoy a picnic dinner featuring elk, wild rice, nettles, ramps, mushrooms, wild greens and asparagus.
