Got plans for Friday? If not - or if you can break ‘em - consider heading to Manzanita for the 10th anniversary of the Trash Bash Art Show, Friday May 16th from 6-9 p.m.
Seriously, if you’re in the mood for a road trip and celebrating all that is wonderful about creative, crunchy communities, I encourage you to take a trip to the dump in Manzanita. What? The dump. Sick. Au contraire! Matt and I dug the dump so much when we lived at the Coast, we chose to go there on our anniversary (after coffee at Manzanita News & Espresso and before our first kayaking adventure).
Cart’m, mind you, is no ordinary dump. In fact, it’s all about keep things out of the landfill. Not only do you feel good about supporting such a good cause, but it’s an awesome place to meet some of the coolest, fun and genuinely kind people on the planet. So imagine all these cool folks getting together on this special evening to celebrate what started as an art-inspired potluck and has grown into an amazing art festival featuring trash making a comeback as all kinds of art. Every piece in the show is for sale. Who knows what treasure you could find?
In addition to the Trash Art Show, there is a silent auction and a not-to-miss “trashion fashion” show. And then, of course, enjoy food, beer, wine and juice donated by local businesses.
Admission to the Trash Bash starts at $1. Proceeds benefit the Cart’m education and outreach program.
If you simply can’t make it to the festival on Friday, you’re still able to check out the art show which will remain up until Sunday, May 18th. For more information visit the Cart’m web site.
