No Ivy Day at Tryon Creek
Help
the Friends of Tryon Creek State Park cut ivy on trees. When ivy
climbs trees, it not only flowers and spreads its seeds; the weight of
the ivy can knock over those trees, destroying entire tracts of
forest. Come help stop this invader of the woods! Please contact
Robin Lewis at 503-636-4398 or robin@tryonfriends.org for more
information and to sign-up. Groups of 5 or more, please pre-register
first. All minors require a parent/guardian-signed insurance form.

New Belgium Urban Assault Ride
Beer,
bikes and big wheels…what more can you ask for? In this funky bike
scavenger hunt, two-person teams will bike to checkpoints around town,
completing crazy obstacle courses at each stop. The finish line
features a huge party with New Belgium beer, live music, an extensive
prize raffle and plenty of other two-wheeled shenanigans. Here's a tip
from ORbike: advance planning and strategizing is allowed, so check the
website for checkpoints, plan your route and scout it out. The race
benefits the Bike Transportation Alliance and there are prizes for the
top three teams in each division – including two New Belgium Cruiser
bikes for the overall winners.
