Portland Bike to Work Month Events and Ultimate List of Year-Round Clinics, Group Rides and Free Maintenance Classes

Gaadz are there ever loads of bike events this month! Drinks, tea, breakfast, beginners rides, family biking workshops, breakfast on the bridges, and that's just what's left! If you haven't taken the opportunity to get on a bike and join a community event yet, make sure to do it before the national Bike to Work Month is over. Plus, Chinook Book has loads of bike coupons.

Thursday, May 15: Free Family Biking Clinic. The BTA's Family Biking Commute Workshops discuss the common challenges that families face when considering bike commuting. Downtown Portland 5:30PM to 7PM, Bicycle Transportation Alliance, 233 NW 5th Ave. No RSVP necessary.

Friday, May 16: Mocktails on the Bridge  Unleaded drinks with your fellow  bike commuters. Sponsored by Shift.  Hawthorne Bridge, 4:30 – 7pm.

Sunday, May 18th: 1pm, Bike Swap Meet at the Recyclery! See their Chinook Book coupon for a $30 tune-up (save $10). See below or site for details on their 8 week mechanics class starting Jun 2nd.

Tuesday, May 20th: free! Celebrate Bike to Work Month!  Drinks, food, fun,  and special offers for bikers and the bike curious.   Downtown Bike  Gallery, SW 10th and Salmon, 6 – 8pm. See their Chinook Book coupons for $5 off a purchase of $20 or more AND $5 off a tune up.

Sunday, May 25th: New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride, 9am-Noon. A funky bike scavenger hunt that involves street-smart riding, obstacle courses, and a huge after party.

Wednesday, May 28th: Tea Time!  Free Tea and Treats. Co-sponsored by Shift.  East end of Steel Bridge (lower Esplanade level), 4 – 6pm

Bike Workshop  A great way to gain confidence for your bike commute. Sponsored by Bicycle Transportation Alliance.  Multnomah County Central Library, 801 SW 10th Ave., Noon –1pm

Wine Ride Sign-Up Party, 7pm Lake Oswego Bike Gallery: Sign-up for one of our popular winery rides and enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres. All Wine Rides profit is donated to the Children's Heart Foundation.

Thursday, May 29th: CycleSeen, photography of Portland's Bike Scene, on display around town.

Friday, May 30th: Breakfast on the Bridges  Free coffee and pastries. Sponsored by Shift.  Steel Bridge (lower level) and Hawthorne Bridge, 7:30 – 9am
