Tonight at 6pm the See and Be Seen Bike Parade will kick off at SW Park and Burnside for a bike ride down Broadway. Bikers of all levels are encouraged to join in this display of safety and fun.
Later, head to the Lucky Lab Beer Hall (
1945 NW Quimby, not SE Hawthorne) for local crafts and bike products presented in Bike Craft 2007. If you have a biker on your holiday gift list, this is the place to get a locally made present. Bikeportland.org describes Bike Craft as "a bike-lover’s bazaar that showcases local, handmade, bike-themed arts, crafts, films, music and more." Read more and see pictures at
bikeportland.org/bikecraft. Local products we're looking forward to include teapots turned into lights by Jene-Paul Lemiuex, Matt Cartwright's tables made from bike rims, Ben Salzber's rearview mirrors made from beer bottle caps, and Shaun Deller's hats made from recycled fabrics as part of his Recyclist Apparel line.See and Be Seen info from

watch for bikes.
The campaign includes ads on TriMet buses, shelters, and benches. Ads will display from December 2007 through January 2008.
(For more information on last year's Parade,

COUPON COUPON COUPON*
Get your light on! Local bicycle retailers have partnered with PDOT to
encourage cyclists to get lit, by offering discounts on lighting and
reflective gear. A coupon will be available at the Bike Light Parade,
in several issues of the Portland Mercury, and
at this page .
The
Community Cycling Center will complement the See & Be Seen campaign with its
Get Lit! program
, providing free lights to needy cyclists. But feel free to start the
holiday season early yourself - buy extra lights and give them to your
friends and family who ride!
