Increase recycling and purchase greener products at the office, including recycled-content paper, cleaning products and even recharged printer cartridges. See StopWaste.Org/EPP for product listings.
Other office options include the local company Give Something Back and the online shop Green Office (thegreenoffice.com). If you don’t have a recycling program at work, organize co-workers to help you set one up. Electronic waste is an increasing problem at both home and the office. Most computer manufacturers now have take-back programs; for example you can take iPods to any Apple store.
We’re fortunate to have several dozen places to recycled e-waste in the county, including the Alameda County Computer Resource Center, which charges no fees and recycles anything that plugs into a wall except large appliances, and Oakland-based Universal Waste Management, which recycles electronic waste for free and offers other great services.
