Six years after plans were laid to open a new Whole Foods on 15th St that would service Ballard, Magnolia and Downtown commuters and residents, Interbay Whole Foods opened its doors to the public for a pre-Grand Opening gala on October 12, 2009 that was attended by over 1000 people. Not yet open for business, the new store had its wares on display, fully-stocked shelves providing an ornamental backdrop to the main attraction: the food. Proving Whole Foods' signature ability to tempt at every turn, premium hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine were served throughout the aisles.
The congregating spot had to be the deli, which caters to the commuter, boasting a taqueria and Kombucha bar, proving you don't have to suffer indigestion by eating on the go. Other big draws include the window-framed lounge area, which has free Wi-fi and invites not so fast-moving customers to sit down, relax, and enjoy the store with a view. Reclaimed wood signs decorate the store, providing a very local, neighborhood feel.
Local is definitely the theme of the new store. Already the Interbay location has hosted two Local Harvest events, highlighting local producers and businesses, including our own Seattle celebrity Tom Douglas who stopped by to personally demo his "Rub with Love" grilling spice mix.
Interbay Whole Foods has continued the long tradition of giving back to customers and the community through special customer events, like the upcoming 5% Community Support Day on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Five percent of the store's net sales will be donated to Operation Frontline. The best way to stay on top of special offers and events is to visit their website, check out their blog, or follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr.
And, of course, one of the best ways to take advantage of all the new store has to offer is to use your Whole Foods coupons in the Chinook Book! You can find Interbay Whole Foods at 2001 15th Ave W, Seattle, WA, 98119.
