Live: Green your Food and Waste! - Northwest Environmental Education Council
The Northwest Environmental Education Council Presents Sustainability Workshop Series: Reduce your Eco-Footprint, Reduce Your Impact. Find out how your food and waste decisions affect the planet! Join speakers from the Urban Farm Company and Cedar Grove Composting for a special presentation on organic gardening, composting, and urban chicken-farming. Learn how to make your own compost bin, get tips for growing an organic vegetable garden in the Pacific Northwest, and find out what it takes to raise chickens in your own backyard! Please bring a Notebook and pen, a mug for coffee, a water bottle, lunch/snack, your old shower head (to be exchanged for a free, low-flow one!). We will have: a raffle for a free set of compost cones! (registering for this class automatically enters you into our raffle), coffee, tea, and snacks, professionals who can answer all your questions about eating sustainably. $5.

Play: Blues for Food Fest 2008
Featuring 5 northwest local bands! Cold drinks hot food. Local farmers market favorites will be serving up delicious homemade and organic food all day long. A children's garden staffed with the most dedicated master gardeners with children's activities scheduled 11 am - 3 pm. Fresh homemade pies by homemade by real p-patchers! Composting demonstrations! By real live master composters! Lots of free parking! Proceeds from this event will go to the P-Patch Trust, a non-profit organization that works to prevent hunger by promoting community gardening in Seattle and by supporting programs that distribute food to needy and help people grow their own food. Bring fresh organic vegetable donations! They will be donated to foodbanks. $10-$20.
