Pioneer Century Bike Ride
A scenic, challenging 55 mile loop winds into the foothills of the
Cascades and back to Canby. Once again, the central rest stop will
feature food provided by Chris King Precision Components. Finish off a
great century with a bucolic 45 mile loop in historic Champoeg country.
Each loop begins and ends at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds in Canby.

Pedalpalooza
Pedalpalooza is 2+ weeks of bike fun. With 202 events, most organized
by individuals, bikers of all persuasions are likely to find many
events of interest. Nearly all events are free.

Cirque du Cycling
Cirque du Cycling, presented by Laughing Planet Café, is part circus,
part bike street race and a benefit for Self Enhancement, Inc. The
event kicks off with a free three mile family ride to Peninsula Park.
There is also a bike parade (advance registration required) featuring
all sorts of wild sculptural bikes: tall bikes, choppers, swing bikes
and more. There's live music all afternoon, plenty of entertainment to
watch and an evening criterium street race down the middle of
Mississippi Avenue. Come relax in the beer garden, bring your bike,
settle into your lawn chair, peruse the shops of Mississippi and
numerous exhibitors and be prepared to be awed by spectacular bicycle
tricks and riding feats.

Towards Carfree Cities VIII: Rethinking Mobility, Rediscovering Proximity
The Towards Carfree Cities conference series brings together people
from around the world who work to promote practical alternatives to car
dependence. The conference attracts professionals, advocates, and
community leaders who focus on the creation of sustainable
transportation systems and on the transformation of cities, towns, and
villages into human-scaled environments rich in public space and
community life.

Portland Sunday Parkways
What is Sunday Parkways?
• 6 miles, 6 hours, zero traffic.

Reach the Bridge Run
Reach the Bridge, a benefit for the American Lung Association of Oregon
deviates from the standard race style of everyone starting at the same
time and finishing at different times. Instead, you pick your start
time (as late as you dare!) and race against the clock to cross the
Burnside Bridge before it rises at exactly 9 am.

Ross Island Kayak Tour
First-time kayakers and experienced paddlers alike will enjoy a unique
perspective of Portland on this guided tour circumnavigating Ross
Island on the Willamette River. We'll paddle past an impressive blue
heron rookery and possibly see bald eagles and osprey as we glide by
Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. There is an unparalleled view of
Portland's skyline on our way back to the dock. Take the tour during
the day, at sunset or at one of the two monthly full moon rides.

Basic Kayak Skills Class
In the classroom we discuss paddling safely, local destinations and
equipment. On the water, we introduce the basic paddle strokes needed
to efficiently move a kayak through the water. We encourage students to
practice a deep water wet exit and an assisted re-entry which is a
safety skill every paddler should own. A person completing this class
is qualified to rent sea kayaks from Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe.
Basic Skills Kayak Classes are offered every weekend year round and
daily in the late spring, summer and early fall. Call for details and

Street Ramble with Mazamas
Every Tuesday and Thursday year round (except major holidays), rain or
shine, the Mazamas lead 2 hour hikes called Street Rambles. These
hikes explore the streets, trails and parks of NW Portland. Rambles go
at different paces and to various destinations, so there is a hike
offered for all fitness levels. Cost is $2.

Surf Lesson with Oregon Surf Adventures
OSA surf lessons provide a great opportunity for all ages to learn the
fundamentals of surfing. Our expert instructors will teach you ocean
awareness, equipment use, water safety, surf techniques and surf

Portland Rock Gym Kids Camp
Our Kids Camps are for children 7-15 and will include games, technique
instruction, and of course a lot of climbing. Try our slack line, king
swing, huge cargo net, zip-line and other high rope elements that
rotate throughout the summer. Kids over the age of 12 will also learn
how to belay and will spend time solidifying safety skills and

2008 Summer Nature Day Camp
Experience nature by creeping among trees, peering into woodland homes,
and munching wild berries. Youngsters gain new perspectives about

children ages 5 to 15.
