Next week (June 5-7, 2008) is the Association of Oregon Recyclers’ (AOR) 30th Annual Conference and Trade Show, in Seaside, OR. I have been to the AOR Conference the past two years and always enjoy meeting other folks in the recycling/waste minimization industry.
Here is a brief overview of the schedule:
Education & Outreach Focus
Thursday, June 5
- Opening session: How did Oregon get so green? Can we sustain that through the 21st century?
- Breakout sessions: Waste prevention, community based social marketing, working with business green teams, and motivating students are just some of the topics covered on this day. Breakout sessions & special workshops for all
- Continental breakfast & lunch buffet
- Oregon Green Schools coordinators meeting
- Welcome Reception: bring your beach blanket to the bonfire.
Annual Recycling Policy & Planning Focus
Friday & Saturday, June 5 & 7
- Golf Tournament – 18 holes at Gearhart Golf Course.
- Keynote speaker: Lisa Wise of the Center for the New American Dream.
- Trade Show opens at noon.
- Breakout sessions: Climate change, electronics recycling, MRF standards, mandatory recycling, and plenty of other topics to get your attention.
- Annual AOR member meeting and election of officers.
- Recycler of the Year Awards Banquet and entertainment.
