Bronze Plaque Shine-Up in Historic Old Town Chinatown
Please join the Old Town Chinatown Arts, Culture and History Committee along with the Blanchett House for the Bronze Plaque Shine-Up. Follow the group as they travel down 3rd and 4th Ave cleaning all 20 bronze plaques of the historic walking tour. This event brings together two organizations in a partnership to preserve the history of the neighborhood. In future, all 20 bronze plaques will be cleaned on a monthly basis by the men who live and work at the Blanchett House. Funding for this event comes from SOLV’s Project Oregon.

Whole Foods Market Invites You to ‘A Taste of Thanksgiving’ Event
Visit your local Whole Foods Market store on November 6th between 5pm-8pm and find a vast array of items for Thanksgiving. Whether you’re planning a cozy meal at home or a huge family gathering, Whole Foods Market has just what you are looking for. For a minimum donation of $10, with all proceeds going to the Oregon Food Bank* you’ll be able to enjoy a small traditional Thanksgiving meal including roast turkey with all the trimmings.  Daedalus Cellars will be on site, pouring some of the Willamette Valley’s finest wines; we will also be featuring live music and entertainment from The Schumont Family Fiddlers!

2008 Siren Nation Women’s Music and Arts Festival - Siren Nation
Siren Nation is a unique arts organization that showcases and creates performance and exhibition opportunities for women throughout the year. We also produce an annual festival showcasing the original work of women working in music, film, performance and visual art.

Wordstock Festival
Although best known for the Book Fair, several events actually make up the Wordstock Festival.  Here’s a summary of all the things you can do at Wordstock.  Book fair, Children's festival, Live Wire radio show, the Night of Literary Feasts, poetry slams, The Text Ball, workshops, comedic performances and more.

Portland Japanese Garden Presents; Free Admission Day
The Portland Japanese Garden will be hosting their fall Free Admission Day on Veteran’s Day.  In addition to sharing the lovely fall Garden with the community, the event will also benefit the Oregon Food Bank through the collection of food donations at the gate.

THE ROAD TO OZ, A Delicious Cabaret Evening

Junk to Funk
Junk to Funk Recycled Fashion Show Contest is an annual Elysium Events production created to showcase wearable art based on the creative use of “trash.” These pieces of wearable art and fashions are based upon found objects, recycled materials, and items that would typically be sent to the landfill.  Each year submissions for entry are encouraged by professional artists, fashion/apparel designers and the creative public to be featured on the fashion show runway. Selected artists compete on the runway for cash prizes based on the percentage of recycled material, creativity, craftsmanship and fit. The event encourages recycling, creative reuse, and sustainable fashion solutions in an eclectic, inspiring and humorous production.  $16 in advance, $20 at the door, $35 for preferred seating, 21 and over.

Northwest Food and Wine Festival
The Northwest Food and Wine Festival will enter its third year with a targeted half day wine and food celebration created to present a rich rewarding experience for wine lovers and gourmet food enthusiasts.  Guests can expect a floor filled with over 600 wines and 50 restaurants and gourmet food tastes which feature an incredible array of options for guests. They will receive a commemorative wine glass, and be able to navigate the floor, smelling, savoring and seeing the bounty of the Northwest, delighting in its offerings.  Live music and silent auction for Portland Camp Fire USA adds to the overall fun and enjoyment.

Street Ramble with Mazamas
Every Tuesday and Thursday year round (except major holidays), rain or shine, the Mazamas lead 2 hour hikes called Street Rambles.  These hikes explore the streets, trails and parks of NW Portland.  Rambles go at different paces and to various destinations, so there is a hike offered for all fitness levels. Cost is $2.

Soap from Scratch
In this class you will learn how to make soap from scratch using Lye, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Olive Oil, and much more. Participants will create their own desired soaps with different herbs, potions, and shapes. This class is more in-depth and spread out due to the time it takes for the soap to cure (4 weeks). After the soap has cured participants will return to decorate, wrap, label, and take home their soaps at the studio with a variety of supplies and great techniques and ideas.  
Soap from Scratch is a Workshop for all people ages 12 and Up.  All materials included!  Deadline for registration Nov 11th.  Cost: $75

Wild Plant Tuesdays with Penny Scout

TrackersNW is proud to offer weekly Tuesday evening classes by Penny Scout, famous blogger and foil to Urban Scout.  Penny (aka Emily Porter) will be teaching wild plants classes every Tuesday.  Come make medicine, learn about wild crafting and bone up on your knowledge of ID and general use.  The next class topic will be Plant Chemistry staring Nov 11.

While I have opted to fill my barrels up all the way with potting soil, other gardeners might not want that expense. (I fill mine up to keep the wood in the barrel moist. When barrel wood dries out, the wood shrinks and the barrels can fall apart.) To
